Panchakarma - A Complete body purification Treatment

As the name indicates that it relates to panch karma (five actions).It is part of ancient ayurvedic treatment developed in India. It used to purify human body by eliminating toxic waste of body and make balance of Pitta, Kaugha and Vata. Panchakarma enhance the metabolic process by herbal medicine and oil massages. The five action of panchakarma are described below. Before panchkarma, purvakarma (primary action) is done. There are two aspects of purvakarma, Snehanam (Oleation) and Swedanam (sweating).

Vamanam Karma (Vomiting): Vamana Karma is used to avoid Kapha disorders like Bronchitis, Cold, Asthma, Sinus, & Excess mucus. When there is congestion in the lungs causing repeated attacks of bronchitis, cold and cough. Vamanam is administrated to eliminate the Kapha causing the excess mucus.


Virechanam (Purgation): This process is used to cure pitta doshas (disorders) like skin disorders, Acidity, Heart burn, Peptic ulcer, Jaundice, Intestinal parasites. Virechana is induced by administering herbal purgatives given orally which passes through whole gut and eliminate excessive pitta.



Basti Karma (Enema); It is very effective for vatta disorders like Chronic Constipation, bloated stomach, gases, malnourished people, sexual disorders, constipation, backache, Spinal pain. The procedure deals with loosened Vata dosha removal out of the body through the rectum. Medicated oil or decoction is administered through the anus to pacify the aggravated air.

Anuvaasan : In anuvaasan medicated oil used for for anema. It is useful in all vatta aggravated diseases like joint disorders, paralysis, constipation, arthritis. This treatment does not given to patient of asthma, anemia, and obesity.

Nasyam (nasal therapy): In nasya process the herbal medicine are given through nostrils. This therapy is highly effective in curing of disease pertaining to the head because the nose is gateway of head. After performing this process systematically it cleanses and opens the channel of head, thereby it improve the oxygenation.



Diet during the panchakarma : Diet is very important during and after panchkarama during the panchakarma the patient have to stay on Khichri that is prepared by boiling rice with turmeric.
